Research Associate II — Gene Therapy (20-00096) – MA – Waltham

Requires significant interaction with cross functional team of scientists, process engineers, vendors, site facility and EHS. Operate in viral vector process development lab under Biosafety Level 2 lab environment, and strictly follow safety procedures and requirements.
Responsible for set up, installation and operation of process development and analytical equipment in a new viral vector process development lab.
Ability to set up cell culture experiments; install and execute experiments in bioreactors with minimal supervision and guidance.
Plans and prioritizes concurrent experimental procedures, document in lab notebooks. May provide oral presentations on results to cross-functional team members. Willing to involve in downstream or support other studies in lab. Comfortable and willing to complete experiments, occasionally by working long hours. Ability to communicate effectively and inform issues related to lab and/or routine activities to Supervisor and help.

Hands on experience of cell culture procedures, set up and operation of bioreactors experiments at least at 10L scale.
Viral vector analytics such as qPCR/ddPCR, flow cytometry, P24, RNA Copy, FACS, HCP ELISA, DNA PicoGreen, HPLC, DLS, Potency measurement and cell-based assays
Knowledge of biochemistry, biochemical / bioengineering subjects
Hands on upstream and downstream operation that includes but not limited to recovery, filtration, TFF and chromatography operations.

Experience: 3 to 6 years
