The Technician, Life Sciences, is responsible for ensuring adequate daily animal care and facility operation. The Technician will perform husbandry and facility operations such as animal receipt and housing, cage washing and sanitization. The Technician will also perform daily health observations and may assist with some experimental procedures, such as restraint, recording of body weights and clinical observations and compound dosing as required. The Technician may also assist with improvements in facility operation and animal care, and must ensure compliance with all established policies and regulations.
Perform cage changing, and monitoring of food and water in rodents following daily scheduled assignments 20%
Sanitize housing and procedure rooms, and maintain facility in good condition 20%
Perform daily animal health observations, including weekends and holidays as required; house incoming animals 20%
Operate autoclave, prepare supplies for animal care, including caging and enrichment items 20%
Maintain inventory of supplies, such as food, bedding, PPE, other general supplies 10%
Assist with in vivo studies, including compound administration (po, ip, iv, sc) and health assessments collection as needed with appropriate training 10%
Ensure adequate animal care, in compliance with internal and external animal welfare regulations, in support of the goals of the scientific units.
Ensure efficient facility operations including adequate sanitization and maintenance of housing racks, biosafety cabinets and washers/autoclave.
Follow daily assignments scheduled by manager.
